Air conditioning units can not only be fixed but even protected from malfunctioning if they are regularly serviced by a certified technician. Not only is it suggested that air conditioning units be serviced annually, but that they are serviced before the highest temperatures hit. Extreme heat can take an already compromised AC unit downhill, quickly.

During your annual inspection, your certified technician will:

• recalibrate the thermostat

• check for leaks

• straighten coil fins

• remove debris from inside and outside of the unit

• look for safety hazards

• clean the coils

• measure refrigerant liquid levels

• replace or clean the air filter

When should you call a professional?

Not all air conditioning issues are noticeable. There are some repairs that a homeowner can perform on his own, but other ones should be handled by a certified technician. Not only can they get your home up and running, but they know more about air conditioners and thus are less likely to make a costly mistake. There are a few key indicators that you need to call a professional for assistance.

Home is too hot - If your home is not at the temperature you set it to, or if there is hot air coming out of your vents; you more than likely need a certified service technician to come and inspect your unit to diagnose these issues.

There are uneven temperatures throughout the home - Upper levels of a home can get hotter due to heat rising. If there is a vast temperature difference in each room, this should raise some concerns. This could be due to an over-worked and or older system, dirty ducts, and or crushed duct work not allowing the proper air flow to cool your home.

Energy bills are extraordinarily high - Significantly higher energy bills could be a cause of your unit working harder to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. This increase could be caused by many different factors such as: a dirty coil, faulty window or door seals, and even torn or damaged duct work. Having an HVAC certified technician inspecting your unit could eliminate and excessive costing on your next energy bill.   

There is restricted air-flow - If the airflow in your vents is compromised in any way, your unit will not be able to efficiently cool your home. Allowing a certified technician to perform an inspection will allow you to receive the best solutions in keeping your home cool and comfortable.

The thermostat is not working - If your thermostat is not working, this does not always mean your unit as a whole is compromised. Luckily our certified technicians have extended knowledge on which thermostat will work best with your system as well as suit you and your families needs.

Loud noises or bad smells - HVAC units making any clanking or clanging noises should raise some concerns. If your unit has an unpleasant odor or some strange smells coming from your vents a professional needs to be contacted immediately. This smell can be the cause of burnt wiring or potential mold in your ducts and or unit.
